Our Estate Planning Process

A straightforward process designed to fit your schedule and make estate planning easier for you and your family.

Estate planning does not need to be complicated or intimidating. Our goal is to make the process organized, efficient, and tailored to your needs. Most matters can be handled remotely, allowing you to complete your estate planning on your schedule and from the comfort of your home.

1. Initial Consultation

We begin with a consultation to discuss your goals, family circumstances, assets, and any specific concerns you may have. Together, we will determine the appropriate structure for your estate plan and discuss the documents that may be needed, including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and business succession planning where appropriate.

2. Information Gathering

After the consultation, you will complete a detailed questionnaire covering your family, assets, business interests, and planning preferences.

We will also schedule a follow-up discussion as needed to review your responses, clarify details, and ensure we have everything necessary to design your plan accurately.

3. Planning Meeting

We meet (typically by phone or Zoom) to confirm the structure of your estate plan and make key decisions, including:

  • Fiduciaries (trustee, executor, agents).

  • Beneficiaries and distribution plan.

  • Planning for children or blended families.

  • Business or property considerations, if applicable.

This step ensures your plan is fully aligned with your intentions before drafting begins.

4. Drafting Your Plan

We prepare your estate planning documents based on the decisions made during our planning meeting. You will receive draft documents for review along with explanations as needed. We will schedule a meeting to discuss any questions and make revisions to ensure the plan accurately reflects your intentions before anything is finalized.

5. Signing on Your Schedule

Once your documents are finalized, you will receive a complete execution packet along with clear instructions for signing, notarization, and witnessing requirements.

Most clients complete this step with a local notary on their own schedule, allowing the process to remain convenient and flexible. If preferred, we can help coordinate a mobile notary to come to you or assist with organizing the signing process to make execution as simple as possible.

After signing, we confirm receipt of your completed documents and ensure everything is proper ly organized.

Ultimately, the goal of this process is simple: to make sure your estate plan is complete, properly executed, and ready to protect your family when it matters most.
